The Mashpee School Committee revealed last week that district enrollment is the lowest it has been in seven years.
Superintendent Michele Conners said on November 5 that the district's current enrollment—1,368 students—is the lowest it has seen since the 2017-18 school year. Despite low enrollment, Conners said school choice data has remained constant, including the number of students who choose to attend Cape Cod Tech, Sturgis Charter Public School or homeschool.
School Committee secretary Kelly Robson asked Conners if the district has taken steps to understand why families are enrolling outside of Mashpee, and said the committee often hears "atmosphere" as a reason.
