An eight-year-old girl died after falling from a balcony at a high-rise condominium in Vancouver's Yaletown neighborhood on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at a building located at the intersection of Nelson Street and Expo Boulevard, according to police reports.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the fall but were unable to save the child, who was pronounced dead at the location. Constable Tania Visintin confirmed that the girl fell from the 23rd floor to the 7th floor of the building.
Authorities have not disclosed who was present in the condo at the time of the incident. The Vancouver Police Department's major crimes section is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall.
