Anyone who has stood with the Timbers Army or Rose City Riveters at Providence Park or risen to their feet during a Trail Blazers playoff game at Moda Center knows that sports fandom runs deep in Portland.

But when it comes to the best sports cities in the U.S., Portland just doesn’t compare with the top contenders. That’s according to the personal finance website WalletHub, which on Wednesday released its Best Sports Cities rankings for 2025.

Boston topped the overall rankings, followed by Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New York and Dallas. Ranking sixth through 10th were Philadelphia; San Francisco; Kansas City, Missouri; Washington, D.C.; and Miami.
