COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gun violence continues to leave a mark on Columbus neighborhoods like Linden, where residents such as Rosa Freeman recall the trauma of bullets shattering her granddaughter’s windshield and a neighbor’s window.
“These kids are getting guns from wherever,” Freeman said, highlighting the ongoing dangers on her street.
In response to this violence, the city of Columbus launched its Non-Fatal Shooting Team , a specialized unit of detectives with a mission: to quickly track down shooters in every non-fatal gun assault.
In the past, the city says it would send two officers to try and solve these cases. Today, a team of eight work together to find the people responsible.
