TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —The city of Twin Falls has closed access to Shoshone Falls Park until further notice.
The closure is due to high water levels at Dierkes Lake and surrounding areas that are overwhelming drainage basins and causing overflow onto roadways.
The overflow has led to damage and erosion of the Shoshone Falls Grade, prompting city officials to take protective measures while searching for a permanent solution.
“We’ve never seen that amount of water coming over like that,” said Josh Palmer, Twin Falls Public Information Coordinator.
Palmer said the city has been monitoring water levels for two and a half weeks, hoping to see a decrease, but levels have remained constant.
