The Government has confirmed the exact date that two DWP benefits will be axed in 2026 as thousands of claimants are being moved over to Universal Credit.
Both Income Support and income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance will close on April 1, 2026 as part of the DWP 's plan to move all six legacy benefits over to Universal Credit by March 2026.
It comes after it was announced that almost a quarter of a million people on Employment Support Allowance (ESA) have moved over to Universal Credit , according to new research released today, November 11.
