EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The plans are changing for a piece of land in the northern part of Vanderburgh County. While it may one day be the landing spot of a new school, the future of part of the space is now as a community meeting place and nature reserve.

The McCutchanville Community Association bought the land from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and plans to transform the area into a green space to serve the community’s recreational and educational needs.

The EVSC bought land off Pertersburg Road back in 2017. It came from the old Eagle Valley golf course, and they say it was for the possibility of building a new school.

Officials later did an assessment of the area and decided that around 60 acres were not needed for the project.
