TEMPLE, Texas — In a Temple neighborhood, a small wooden box is making a big difference for families struggling during the government shutdown.
Scott Huntley didn't overthink it. When he saw a blessing box created by a Pittsburgh content creator on social media, he knew his community needed one too.
"Once I saw the idea, it really wasn't a thought to second guess it. It was something I wanted to do," Huntley said.
Within days, the blessing box was up and running in his front yard — stocked with food, personal care items, and a simple message: Take what you need, donate if you can.
The response has been overwhelming.
Neighbors drop off donations regularly. Amazon boxes addressed to "The Blessing Box" arrive at Huntley's doorstep. The shelves stay full thanks to a community rallying tog
