The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office reported the death of Corporal Blake Reynolds, who died early Wednesday morning. Reynolds was helping a stranded motorist on Interstate 69 when his patrol car was hit by a semi-truck.

Reynolds, a four-year veteran, was outside his vehicle during the crash and was struck. Emergency responders arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures, but Reynolds died from his injuries.

Reynolds joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2022 and was promoted to Corporal. Before his law enforcement career, he served in the Army National Guard.

In June 2025, Reynolds married his wife, Allison. The Sheriff’s Office asked the community to keep Reynolds’ family and colleagues in their thoughts and prayers. They also thanked the emergency personnel who responded to the scene
