GREENSBORO, N.C. — Tuesday's municipal primary elections narrowed the race for Greensboro Mayor down to two names.
Vying for the title of Greensboro's next mayor in the November 4th general election — Marikay Abuzuaiter and Robbie Perkins .
Abuzuaiter and Perkins advanced through the primary as the top two vote-getters, with Abuzuaiter totaling 39.91% of the ballots and Perkins claiming 32.51%.
Serving on Greensboro's City Council since 2011, Abuzuaiter became the city's Mayor Pro Tem in January following the death of Yvonne Johnson. A former small business owner, Abuzuaiter has highlighted her experience guiding Greensboro's recent economic development projects as a reason why she would be the best fit for the position.
