LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Silver Dollar, a long-standing restaurant at the corner of Frankfort Avenue and Pope Street in Louisville, is closing on Saturday.
Brian Downing, co-owner of the Silver Dollar, said the decision did not come lightly. He cited tariffs, a decline in interest in bourbon, and focuses on other areas of town, like NuLu.
"Unfortunately, we reached a point where, you know, we can't keep putting money into a business that isn't returning it back," said Downing.
This concern has been emphasized by the recent closures of other businesses nearby, including The Champagnery in July, Enso three weeks later, and Hilltop Tavern in September.
Despite the Silver Dollar's closure, Downing remains optimistic about the area's potential.
