LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The pain from last week’s tragic UPS plane crash has reached every corner of Louisville, including Fairdale.
At Derby City Pizza, the community came together in a simple but powerful way to say thank you to their first responders.
“Welcome to Derby City Pizza Fairdale,” said longtime manager Jennifer Reece, who has worked at the restaurant for eight years and knows many of her customers by name.
“It’s a family atmosphere,” she said.
And when tragedy struck Louisville, that family spirit extended to the Fairdale Fire Department, one of the first agencies to respond to the devastating crash.
“We was one of the first ones there,” assistant fire chief Stephen Cahill said.
The department has continued to return to the crash site in the days since.
