A man has suffered serious injuries after he was ambushed by a machete-wielding man at a Melbourne car wash this morning.
The 43-year-old victim was arriving at work at a car wash on Mount Alexander Road in Essendon, in Melbourne's inner north-west, about 9am.
Another car pulled up to the entrance and an unknown male armed with a machete approached the victim and slashed his hand, police said.
The victim tried to run away before the armed man slashed him again, this time on the upper body.
"The worker was here by himself, he'd just opened the factory at the time of the incident," Detective Sergeant Chris Hussey said.
"It was very quick. It would've been over in approximately 30 seconds, if even that long."
