LAS VEGAS — Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow made it clear here at the GM Meetings that he plans to add a hitter with power this offseason .
Could that mean the Red Sox simply just re-signing Alex Bregman or could it mean re-signing him and adding a power-hitting first baseman?
Is it an either/or situation? Breslow acknowledged the Red Sox could sign two big bats.
“We could,” Breslow said. “I think we’re going to be open to every conceivable path to improving the team. Specifically what that looks like or who the names are that fill those roles, I think we’ll see how the offseason plays out.”
Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso and Eugenio Suárez are among the top power hitters available on the free agent market.
