CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Brooks Sandwich House murder trial resumed Wednesday with prosecutors continuing to lay out their case against Terry Connor and Steven Staples.

Both men are accused of robbing and killing Scott Brook s, co-owner of the longtime NoDa restaurant, during an attempted robbery in December 2019.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, the state called law enforcement witnesses from a separate double homicide that happened just weeks later in January 2020. Prosecutors say Connor and Staples also face charges in that case and are using it to show a pattern of behavior, including motive, identity, and intent that connects both crimes.
