Police are investigating after the body of a Vancouver woman was discovered outside a small resort in Belize on Monday.

Marty Ann Thorne, 65, was found dead outside Rawspa Cabanas in Bullet Tree Falls, a village in the Cayo district of Belize, by a caretaker just before 8 a.m. on Monday, said local authorities.

The caretaker told police he arrived around 7:45 a.m., and called out for Thorne but couldn’t find her inside the home. He checked the yard and found Thorne near the riverside.

“The body exhibited several apparent stab wounds,” according to a police report shared by Stacy Smith at the Commissioner of Police Office in Belmopan City, Belize’s capital.
