A 48-year-old Guelph man is facing multiple charges after a staff member at École Guelph Lake Public School found him inside the school Tuesday afternoon.

The Guelph Police Service told CBC News they were called to the school at approximately 4:15 p.m.

Police said a teacher discovered the man, who was not authorized to be in the school, hiding in a closet in the staff room. Children were still present in the building for an after school program.

"He had no reason or right to be in the school and that's why officers proceeded with a number of charges related to his attendance within the school," police spokesperson Scott Tracey said.
