Assam Police on Wednesday arrested a third-year MBBS student of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) on charges of attempted molestation and sexual assault.

The accused has been identified as Susheel Kumar, a resident of Bihar.

According to police, Kumar allegedly tried to sexually assault a fellow female student and batchmate inside a toilet at the medical college.

“Susheel Kumar forced his way into the toilet and attempted to sexually assault her by locking the door from inside. The girl managed to escape and informed her family members,” a police official said.

Following the incident, the victim’s family lodged an FIR at the Lilabari police outpost, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused.
