SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Wednesday, Via, the operator of Sioux Area Metro, presented new data to the Sioux Falls City Council, and changes may be around the corner to improve public transportation options.

A little over a year ago, Via expanded its SAM on Demand service and adjusted bus routes with the goal of being more efficient and direct.

They said recent ridership and increased demand are informing how they will make improvements again soon.

“The whole goal of this is to bring new riders into the fold,” said Sioux Area Metro general manager Torin Kalberg.

Kalberg touted a sizeable, sustained increase in ridership and a drop in cost per ride.
