WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot continues to climb and has topped half a billion dollars after Wednesday's drawing, with an estimated $546 million on the line with a cash option is $255 million.
Nobody won the grand prize (which would have been approximately $512 million), but a pair of tickets in New Jersey and Virginia are worth $1 million each after picking the five regular numbers correctly in Wednesday's drawing.
The jackpot has been rolling since the last grand prize winners in September, who split the second-largest Powerball jackpot in history earlier this year. On Sept. 6, two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas matched all six numbers to claim a staggering $1.8 billion prize, marking one of the largest lottery wins in U.S. history.
