HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The evolving world of student-athlete compensation in college sports took center stage at the state Capitol Wednesday afternoon.
University of Hawaii athletics director Matt Elliott was joined by head coaches Timmy Chang for football and Laura Beeman for women’s basketball to meet with lawmakers for an informational briefing on player compensation and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals.
Programs from power conferences nationwide have paid student-athletes for efforts to both recruit and retain players.
