In a breakthrough in the Red Fort car blast case, Delhi Police on Thursday confirmed that the man who detonated the explosive-laden i20 car was Dr Umar Un Nabi, after forensic DNA tests matched his biological samples with those of his mother.
Police officials said this is among the few known instances in terror history where a fidayeen (suicide attacker) used an explosive-laden vehicle to trigger a blast — the first such incident in the national capital.
