Cameron Green has fallen agonisingly short of making his first hundred of the season in the first innings of what will be his final hit-out before the start of The Ashes.

The all-rounder came within one blow of the milestone but was trapped LBW by an inswinger from Test smokey Michael Neser for 94 shortly after lunch on the third day of WA’s Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland at the WACA Ground.

Resuming on 49 not out, Green started in fine style, bringing up his half-century from the day’s first delivery by driving leg-spinner Mitch Swepson through the covers to the boundary.
