Warwickshire County Council's cabinet is being urged to release funds for an active travel link between Leamington and Rugby , which will cost over £800 per metre to install. The Reform UK panel of councillors, responsible for major service areas, will meet today (November 13) with county officers recommending the release of £322,710 earmarked to upgrade a 400-metre section of the Lias Line cycle path.
The cycle route is on a disused railway route that now serves as a greenway linking to the wider cycle network. The funding comes from the government's active travel fund, with the council acting as the conduit for site owners and active travel charity Sustrans to utilise the grant, although Warwickshire County Council will be liable if there are any cost overruns.
