Adults who recruit children into gangs in Victoria could face life in prison under a tough new crackdown.
The Victorian government will “significantly” increase the maximum penalty for recruiting a child to commit a violent offence, Premier Jacinta Allan and Attorney-General Sonya Kilkenny announced on Thursday.

The current maximum sentence of 10 years for the crime would rise to 15 years, while those who recruit children to commit serious and violent offences — such as aggravated home invasions or aggravated carjackings — could face life in prison.
