Harry Rouhliadeff scored 22 points and Hunter Erickson contributed 18 in the Hawaii basketball team’s 88-56 victory over Mississippi Valley State in the opening round of the Outrigger Rainbow Classic.
A crowd of 1,923 in Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center saw the Rainbow Warriors score the first nine points, expand the lead to 49-23 at the intermission and go up by as many as 33 at 84-51 with 3:53 to go.
Rouhliadeff, a 6-foot-9 captain, played the four and five positions, hit three 3s and was part of the defensive coverage on Delta Devils point guard Michael James. James, who entered the week second nationally in shots attempted while averaging 24.7 points, was held to 11 points on 4-for-16 shooting.
