Nevada overcame a poor shooting night -- and got some late heroics along with stout defense, late -- to power past Southern Illinois and win its third straight game to start the basketball season.
The Wolf Pack beat the Salukis, 86-81, in overtime on Wednesday night in front of an announced crowd off 7,001 fans at Lawlor Events Center.
Tayshawn Comer led Nevada with 23 points, including 10-of-14 free throws, and Corey Camper Jr. added 20 points as the Wolf Pack improved to 3-0. Elijah Price had a monster game with 17 points and 19 rebounds and Joel Armotrading added 11 points.
"I was in a lot of close games last year, but ended up on the other side, so it feels great to come out with a win," Price, who transferred from Fresno State, said.
A dismal 3-point shooting performance was saved
