At least two people were killed, and five others sustained serious injuries after a massive explosion at a firecracker factory in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district on Thursday. The blast was so powerful that a loud boom was heard several kilometres away, spreading panic among residents in the nearby areas.

According to officials, the explosion occurred in the afternoon when workers were engaged in routine work inside the unit. Officials suspect that fire safety standards were not taken care of which may have led to the incident.

Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the loud noise and helped rescue the injured before ambulances and police teams arrived.
