A 50-year-old woman has been charged with murdering her partner’s 84-year-old mother last month in the home they shared in Sydney’s north-west.
The body of Irene Selmes, 84, was found inside the bedroom of her Melonba house on October 4 by a family member, who then called Triple Zero. Selmes lived at the home with her son and his partner.
An autopsy allegedly revealed that Selmes had suffered “significant injuries” before her death, including to the upper body, NSW Police said in a statement.
The younger woman was arrested in her pyjamas shortly before 3pm on Thursday, after heavily armed police stormed the home on Comet Street – the same address where Selmes’ body was found.
The accused was taken to Mount Druitt police station, where she was charged with domestic violence-related murd
