EASTON, Maine (WAGM) - Veterans Day was on Tuesday, but that didn’t stop Easton students from honoring them a day later.

Veteran ceremonies give folks the opportunity to show gratitude and honor those who fought for our nation’s freedom.

In the town of Easton, one veteran in particular is being celebrated. Retired U.S. Air Force Veteran John Trask, the oldest veteran in Easton, was invited to Easton Elementary School, where he was honored by students, staff, and the community for his service.

“I’m overwhelmed with it. This was a real honor to get this. It’s really something I will never forget . I’m really pleased,” says Trask holding a small figurine of a sword gifted to him at the assembly.
