MOORHEAD — Just in time for the holidays, Junkyard Brewing in Moorhead and Freddy's Lefse in West Fargo have teamed up to create a lefse-based beer.
Whether the potato-infused beverage actually tastes like lefse is open for debate, according to Aaron Juhnke, Junkyard's owner, but he said some are convinced it does.
"I've talked to some people who are 100 percent certain they can taste lefse in this beer," Juhnke said, adding that Junkyard's Lefse Pilsner, a Norwegian-style pilsner beer, appeared to get good reviews during a recent rollout party Junkyard held for the brew.
Fans include Katie and Bryan Nermoe, the owners of Freddy's Lefse in West Fargo, who were among those attending Junkyard's special pop-up that introduced the new lefse beer to Junkyard's regulars.
