LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KY3) - The Osage Nation first announced plans to develop a casino at Lake of the Ozarks a few years ago.
“It is about being that good community partner, but for us it’s about coming home,” said Osage Nation CEO Kimberly Pearson.
She says a $100 million casino, hotel, and entertainment complex in the city of Lake Ozark is the largest project they’ve been involved with.
“Everything in this area is called Osage. I think lots of people forgot it was a people and that we’re still here. That’s what we want to show to everybody, that we’re a thriving people. We’re excited to be back in our homeland,” she said.
Wednesday night, the Lake Ozark board of aldermen approved an agreement that grants the tribe access to the infrastructure and services. The complex will be located at
