HASSAN: Five people were injured, two of them in seriously, after a lorry collided with a car near Bittagodanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan late on Wednesday night.

The lorry (KA-53-B-6579), was travelling from Gorur towards Belur while the car, a Hyundai i20 (KA-04-NF-5739), was heading in the opposite direction. The accident occurred when the lorry, allegedly driven by a drunk driver, collided with the oncoming car.

The injured individuals, including Manjunath (35), his wife Suma (32), Sushma (29), Nayana (9) and Aditya (6), were returning from a wedding in Saligrama. They were taken to the district hospital for treatment. The Hassan Rural police visited the spot and are investigating further.
