The New York Yankees are one of the most aggressive franchises in terms of adding stars. They have plenty of resources to spend big, and on Wednesday, NJ.com's Randy Miller reported that Paul Skenes allegedly has told a teammate that he wants to play for the Yankees.

“Trust me, he wants to play for the Yankees,” the Skenes teammate said, per Miller. “I’ve heard him say it multiple times.”

Skenes was named the National League Cy Young Award winner on Wednesday night, and he quickly shut down any reported desire to play for the Yankees.

"I don’t know where that came from,” Skenes said to The Athletic's Stephen J. Nesbitt. “I don’t know the reporter. I don’t know the player that supposedly said that. But the goal is to win, and the goal is to win in Pittsburgh.”
