New Delhi: In a major crackdown on corruption within the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Engineer from the Najafgarh Zone while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a complainant.
According to the agency, the arrest followed a complaint alleging that a group of MCD officials, including an Executive Engineer, an Assistant Engineer and the Junior Engineer, had demanded an illegal gratification of over Rs 25 lakh to clear pending bills amounting to approximately Rs 3 crore. The CBI registered a case on November 11, and immediately set up a trap to verify the complaint.
