Though the government shutdown ended late in the evening on Nov. 12, experts said the air travel issues were expected to continue for several days.
At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport the flight cancellations and delays continued on Thursday, Nov. 13. Flight tracking website FlightAware showed 39 flights to and from Sky Harbor were delayed and 54 flights were canceled as of noon on Nov. 12.
Aviation experts have warned that flight disruptions will persist after the shutdown officially ends as the Federal Aviation Administration contends with widespread staffing shortages and evaluates whether air traffic can return to normal .
