LEWISTOWN, Mo. -- After a couple of seasons of steady improvement, Highland enters the 2025-26 season with an experienced team ready to make its mark.
The hunger the Lady Cougars have to make this season special was evident to head coach Ashton Jaco as soon as camp opened last week.
"I felt like they exceeded my expectations last week as far as our intensity was," said Jaco. "We've got some older kids now. We've been young for a long time and now we're not, which is nice. They kind of know how things go and what's expected, but the young kids picked up on stuff really quick too."
Highland now has a core of juniors and seniors that were part of teams that improved by four wins from the 2022-23 to 2023-24 seasons and five wins from the 2023-24 to 2024-25 seasons.
