When North Port detectives asked a 21-year-old Dima Tower about why he stabbed his adoptive parents to death the night of Aug. 31, 2023, he had a one-word explanation: rage.

His rage had been building up inside him, reaching a boiling point when he grabbed a kitchen knife and went on to stab Jennifer and Robbie Tower more than 140 times, an assistant state attorney described during opening statements Wednesday morning.
