Canada’s premiers have written Prime Minister Mark Carney seeking his involvement in regular meetings of the Council of the Federation “in the best interest of the country.”
Citing the significant change in Canada’s relationship with the United States, the council says meetings and conversations between the first ministers are key to increasing internal trade.
Chair and PEI Premier Rob Lantz says they’re looking forward to the council’s next meeting to discuss federal infrastructure investment, share information on their respective major projects, and discuss the state of relations and negotiations between Canada and the U.S. as well as trade relations with China and India.
