A man's body has been recovered from the River Tawe in Swansea, Wales, following a significant rescue operation. Emergency services were alerted to the situation at approximately 7.40am on Thursday, November 13, after reports of a person entering the water near Quay Parade.

South Wales Police, along with fire crews, ambulance services, the coastguard, and RNLI lifeboats, responded swiftly to the scene. A police spokesperson confirmed that officers were called shortly after 7.50am. They stated, "Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the RNLI, and the coastguard also attended. Shortly before 1.30pm, divers located a man’s body, which has now been recovered. Formal identification has yet to take place."

The Welsh Ambulance Service dispatched a range of resources, including one emergency ambulance, a Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, an operations manager, and a hazardous area response team. A spokesperson for the ambulance service noted, "We were called today at approximately 7.40am to reports of an incident in the River Tawe, Swansea."

The RNLI launched both their Inshore Lifeboat and All Weather Lifeboat at 8.00am to assist in the search efforts. The Mumbles Lifeboat RNLI reported on Facebook, "The Mumbles RNLI Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) and All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) launched... following reports of a suspected person in the River Tawe. HM Coastguard teams, South Wales Police, along with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who were also in attendance with their boats. The All-Weather Lifeboat provided safety and search cover in the river mouth, whilst the Inshore Lifeboat assisted the fire service in searching the river."

This incident marks the second occurrence in a month involving someone entering the waters of the River Tawe. On October 14, emergency services were called to the river after a 46-year-old man entered the water. He was subsequently detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for evaluation.
