GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Civil rights activist and Greenville native Reverend Jesse Jackson is in the hospital.

According to the Rainbow Push Coalition, the 84-year-old is under observation for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was admitted on Tuesday.

The group said Jackson has been managing this neurodegenerative condition for more than a decade. He was originally diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, however, his PSP condition was confirmed in April.

Jackson helped integrate Greenville’s Public Library system. He then hit the national stage advocating for racial and economic justice alongside Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
