ALLEN PARK -- Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions were one of the 10 NFL teams to vote in favor of keeping the “tush push” legal over the offseason.
Campbell is keeping that tune ahead of facing the team that perfected the play, saying, “I’m a purist,” when pressed about the reasoning behind his support. And those words should carry more weight, with the Lions heading to Philadelphia to face the Eagles this weekend on Sunday Night Football.
“You take something else out of the game, then we’re taking the next thing out of the game, then you’re taking another thing out of the game,” Campbell said. “And pretty soon, we don’t have pads anymore. Pretty soon, you’re only playing 30 minutes. And then pretty soon, it’s -- so, I don’t want to take it out of the game.”
