Nazareth museum shares historic gun collection with the Panhandle

NAZARETH, Texas (KFDA) - The Up in Arms Museum in Nazareth is sharing guns owned by famous historical figures from Davy Crockett to Wyatt Earp.

Historian Dale Acker says he and his wife were both born and raised here.

His wife always wanted to have a bed and breakfast, so they built that. Acker says he then started collecting guns.

“I found guns with a story and told her one day. I said, ‘It’s not going to be any fun unless I can show this to people and spread the history of what I have,’” said Acker. “So we decided that we were going to build a museum.”

Acker says the museum turned the hobby into an obsession.

“I like finding the different pieces that have a story and be able to tell history,” said Acker.
