U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar is speaking out after members of her party helped Republicans end the longest government shutdown in history without assurances on health care benefits.

Following the U.S. Senate's lead , the U.S. House of Representatives voted 222-209 on Wednesday, Nov. 12, to pass a bill to open the government through Jan. 30, 2026, despite not getting the extension to Affordable Care Act subsidies that kicked off the government shutdown in the first place.

President Donald Trump signed the bill into law later the same day.

Six Democrats sided with Republicans to pass the bill, including U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, who said in a statement that he voted to reopen the government to "get critical programs back on track."
