Ripleigh's Creamery in Pennsylvania is inviting middle school students to create an ice cream flavor inspired by the slang phrase "six-seven," a term popular on the internet and in middle schools.
Founded in 2021 by 14-year-old Ripleigh Maring, the creamery is asking sixth, seventh, and eighth graders to capture the taste of "six-seven" for its pop culture series, with dozens of entries set to undergo taste tests.
Laura Maring of Ripleigh's Creamery said, "We definitely like to make anything into ice cream."
She noted the positive reception from educators, saying, "It's been really great to see a lot of teachers lean into it versus being annoyed with it too much."
Brian Heisey, a science teacher at Central York Middle School, frequently hears the phrase "six-seven" from his students.
