Every Mennonite woman’s worst nightmare came true last night after Sarah Koop, 20, of La Crete exposed her ankles and instantly become 8-months pregnant.

“I knew this would happen. Oh, I just knew this would happen,” said Sarah’s mother Ruth, when she heard the news. “There’s a reason we require their skirts to touch the floor.”

Sarah says wants to clear up any misconception that she may have exposed her bare ankle on purpose.

“I know it doesn’t make it any better, but it was all an accident,” says Sarah. “My socks lost their elasticity, that’s all. They rolled down past my ankle bone. There was little I could do to prevent it.”

That several male suitors were in close proximity (as in the same room), only fuelled the rumours.
