OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- Bird flu has been detected in three more Ottawa County commercial poultry flocks, bringing the total infected flocks in the county to 10.
Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development agency staff on Nov. 12 reported the finding.
At the same time, they reported that that bird flu also was found in one backyard flock in Monroe County and one backyard flock in St. Clair County.
In Ottawa County, the two cases reported Nov. 12 involved the destruction of 64,600 turkeys.
So far this year, bird flu has been detected in eight Ottawa County commercial turkey flocks, with 447,000 birds culled in efforts to control any spread, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
