STATEWIDE — With the nation’s 250th birthday coming up next summer, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is encouraging residents to start planning early for a major Fourth of July celebration at state parks across the state.
Seven parks — Roosevelt, Paul B. Johnson, Clarkco, Percy Quin, Buccaneer, Trace, and J.P. Coleman — will host Independence Day weekend events featuring cookouts, live music, and fireworks over the water.
“Americans have celebrated freedom for 250 years,” said Andre Hollis, state parks director. “This July 4th, we invite everyone to celebrate that spirit with us at Mississippi State Parks and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
