Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy was appointed captain of the Tamil Nadu team for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament scheduled to begin nationwide from November 26.
Chakravarthy played a handy role in India’s 2-1 away T20 International series win over Australia recently, taking 5 wickets across three completed matches.
India batter Narayan Jagadeesan will be Chakravarthy’s deputy for the country’s premier T20 tournament.
Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore and promising Andre Siddarth are also part of the squad. India left-arm seamer T Natarajan too has been included in the squad.
Tamil Nadu, who is having modest run in this season’s Ranji Trophy, is placed in Elite Group D alongside Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Tripura, Jharkhand and Saurashtra.
