Americans are turning to Google in record numbers to figure out how to say the trickiest words in English, and the results reveal a lot about culture, curiosity and maybe a touch of culinary confusion.

According to a 2025 analysis by Unscramblerer.com, people across the United States searched millions of times this year for phrases like "How do you pronounce…" or "How to pronounce…" and the answers vary wildly depending on where you live.

Experts at Unscramblerer.com say the findings highlight how culture shapes language.

"Exposure to new words through media, music and pop culture drives curiosity," a spokesperson for Unscramblerer.com said. "People look up pronunciations when spelling and sound don't quite match."
